#1: Twitter / X
Twitter also known as X is a website/app I use daily. I tend to look at the for you section for topics that are relevant to me and that peak my interest. I also use the trending section to learn about topics that might be out of my interest but might still be relevant information to know. One thing I would like to point out is the community notes feature which is an unbiased fact-checking system that helps with fake news and knowing if something might be fake or not.
#2: Instagram
Unlike Twitter/X I usually start my day and end my day by scrolling on Instagram. It helps provide news and stories in an engaging video format manor. I use this for mainly news outside of mainstream media and news that might be more entertaining. On the other hand, some creators that I enjoy news from post mainly image-based content including Pubity, DailyWorldNewsOffical, and Rap.
#3: Youtube
I have always enjoyed watching YouTube so when I discovered creators that post news in an engaging and fun format and include comedy in their videos, I instantly loved it. One of my favorite creators Penguinz0 also known as MoistCr1tikal provides news in a funny and engaging manner and he talks about stories that are funny and sometimes don’t always get covered by big news sources.
#4: Google News
I always knew about Google News as a good source for news but I never really used it, but ever since enrolling in this Media Law class I see it as a much easier source to fact-check my news and see if what I see online is really legit or not. In conclusion, my steps for finding news would be to use the sources listed above and then fact-check with Google News.
#5 Apple News
As a bonus source, I use Apple News. I usually don’t go out of my way to research using Apple News, but I sometimes accidentally come across Apple News on my phone and get invested in the stories. I also use it as a second source to fact-check news when my wifi isn’t working well enough to check Google News.
